About Our Troop

We are an active Troop, founded in 2004, with year-round weekly meetings and monthly outings. Our weekly meetings are held from 7:00-8:30 PM on Tuesdays, usually at the Historic Baldwin Hall in Millersville, MD

Our Troop

Scouts BSA Troop 804 is a traditional Scout Troop for boys. Our vision is for our scouts to become better citizens and better leaders through the building of self-confidence via the scout method. Our Troop is very active, well organized, and composed of a dynamic group of young men and caring adults.

The Troop operates with weekly meetings, monthly themes, regular service projects and activities, and monthly campouts. The meetings help the boys learn skills, have fun, and practice leadership. The campouts help the boys experience the outdoors while developing leadership and self-confidence by adapting to and overcoming the challenges of working as a group in uncertain conditions. The boys plan their activities, develop their menus, create the campsites, and cook their meals.

Our Troop is boy led and adult mentored. We draw on the experiences of our Scouts, adults, leaders, and friends to maintain an exciting and well-designed program that challenges and provides opportunities at all levels.

Our Leaders

Our troop is boy led by a Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) of scouts to include a Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), multiple Assistant Senior Patrol Leaders (ASPLs) and a Patrol Leader for each over several patrols that make up the troop.

The PLC is supported by a group of very experienced and dedicated volunteer adults to provide a safe and successful scouting program.

Our Organization

The Boy Scouts program was brought to the United States from England in 1910 and chartered by the Congress in 1916 to provide an educational program for boys and young adults by building character, promoting citizenship, and developing personal fitness. The mission of Scouts BSA is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The National Council of BSA develops standards that every troop, leader, and scout must follow.  BSA develops programs to assist the local councils, districts, and troops to train young people to become dynamic leaders and to promote service to their community and others. Scouts BSA troops are made up of young men and women from 5th grade through the age of 18.  The program is designed to teach a variety of life skills while enjoying the outdoors.
